For 30 years this strategy seemed to work well enough for me to carve out a decent standard of living. However, since 2008 it was all going the wrong direction and I had pretty much found the lint in my pockets and had to have some real gut wrenching talks with myself. I had cut all the costs I could, reduced as much of the staff without standing totally alone and yet we could never quite get over the top to make it worthwhile.

It was then a little light went off in my head saying "Don't you remember reading Chris Brown's Newsletters from Lifeline Business Solutions that just happen to keep landing in my email box." I'd done business for 20+ years with Chris Brown in his former career as the General Manager of Financial Services for my major manufacturer, so this was not some mystery guy I didn't know.

That day was a big day in the life of Parker Marine Co's for sure. I remember feeling "Geez am I a looser in making this call"? "Am I really at that stage now?" It's was a humbling moment in my life that's for sure. At least it was at that time!! I recall the phone conversation as if it was yesterday and even though nothing had been done at that point, it truly was the biggest thing I did to turn around my companies to this date.

Within weeks, (not months), I had my first real business plan I could take to the bank. Only thing is I didn't yet realize how much I was really going to need that plan until mid December of that year. We were out of cash and I had no more to put into my company. So now what? This felt even worse than the dreaded call I made to Chris Brown originally, and I knew it! So back on the phone with Chris and together he, my accounting staff and I put together a Bank Proposal with a Financial Performance Analysis, Cash Flow projection, Pro forma P & L and Balance Sheet that quite frankly didn't look good from a past history perspective. The business plan projection looked very promising, but I was worried sick about how the bank would react!

The job that they all did, I would have to say, was second to none. My banker was blown away with the plan we presented. She talked directly to Chris to review his plan and the numbers as well as myself. With Lifeline Business Solutions on my team, the bank went with our plan and gave us a bulge in our lines of credit.

Chris monitored our financial result every month from December to September 30th, which is our year end and reported to me with variances and recommendations. I followed the plan pretty much to a tee and in those months we had a $250,000 turnaround in my companies that truly was the best thing I've ever done. Now let me tell you, this October when my banker walked thru our doors, that was one of the best feelings I've ever had in my 33 years of business! Not Holy crap, the bank wants a meeting. No, even Carolyn, my banker was grinning from ear to ear and the area manager she brought with her was all over me asking what I did to turn this around so much, so quickly? My answer was simple - A lady (my bank account manager) who believed in Parker Marine, Rob Parker and a fellow by the name of Chris Brown from Lifeline Business Solutions.

Thank you Chris, you truly are what you preach and you really are a lifesaver!!!! The only mistake I ever made was not calling you years before. The smart ones do!!
